In-Person Volunteering

Swing into Reading Tutors and Sandbox Activity Assistants will serve at one of our program sites: Our House, Brandon House, Life Skills for Youth, or Jacksonville Boys and Girls Club. The Literacy Playground runs from June 6th through August 5th. All volunteers must attend a training and pass a background check.

Swing Into Reading

Volunteer tutors will work one-on-one with two students (30 minutes each) who need extra support in reading. The Swing into Reading program is in-person, interactive, and filled with literacy games as well as plenty of time for reading practice.

Activity Assistants

Activity Assistants will provide support to the Summer Sandbox Literacy Coordinator. Activity Assistants will assist with set up and cleanup of crafts and activities as well as engage students in literacy warmups and assist the coordinator with read-aloud sessions as needed. Activity Assistants can sign up to serve for 1-2 hours per week for 8 weeks.

Literacy Lab

The Literacy Lab is a collaborative effort of the Little Rock School District and community leaders to empower children through early literacy skill-building to help them meet grade-level reading goals.
