The AR Kids Read program has received an incredible amount of media coverage and recognition these
past few months. Thanks to the dedication of our wonderful tutors we have garnered two great honors.
AR Kids Read was awarded the KATV Spirit of Arkansas Award which highlighted our program and
included a $500 check from Rainwater, Holt, and Sexton. We were nominated by one of our tutors and
the news coverage resulted in 12 new tutors!
We spent over an hour shooting footage for the news piece at Rockefeller Elementary. Two students
that had an AR Kids Read tutor were interviewed along with our Executive Director, Charlie Conklin and
a number of school personnel at Rockefeller.
One student commented, “(My tutor) helps me with hard words…now they are not hard anymore.” Our
tutors make a big impact through building a relationship and making learning fun, and we are so thrilled
to be honored because of our tutors. Click here to watch the video.
Arkansas Business Publishing Group has chosen AR Kids Read as a finalist for the 28th Annual
Arkansas Business Non-Profit of the Year Award. The Awards Banquet will be held on February 25th
where the winner will be announced.
Conklin said, “We are nominated along with four other non-profits that are all doing some incredible work,
and we are glad to be recognized for the difference our tutors are making in 47 Pulaski County schools.”
Thank you to all of the those who make the AR Kids Read program a success story and to those
dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students in our community.
