A large crowd of volunteers, business leaders and education advocates gathered last September to
launch the annual volunteer recruitment campaign for AR Kids Read. During the event, a $70,000
matching grant initiative was announced, made available through the combined efforts of Fifty for the
Future, the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, Arkansas Community Foundation and the National
Christian Foundation. Recently, AR Kids Read announced that their goal of $70,000 was exceeded
by more than $30,000.
AR Kids Read Executive Director Charlie Conklin noted, “Through the generous donations of many
community partners, AR Kids Read is better equipped to support our tutors and schools to move
forward with our efforts to help struggling readers. It is exciting to see the entire community
rally around education including a willingness to provide financial support for the success of our
The funds will be used to grow the program in order to serve additional schools and students in Pulaski

successful fundraising endeavor in the history of our program.
