We want to give you a peek into what 2017 has brought to the central Arkansas community through AR Kids Read so far.
2017 Tutoring with AR Kids Read
Hundreds of tutors means hundreds of students served. We've had so many new tutors and students this year! You just might recognize some of them below.
Monthly Acts Of Kindness
Once a year really isn't enough to say thank you to our tutors and partners. So, we asked ourselves, "How can we start spreading the love to those who do so much for this community?" It didn't take long to decide that we wanted to surprise our partners and tutors with gifts of appreciation. So, we are doing little random acts of kindness once a month. In February and March, we had the privilege of getting up early to bring breakfast to our friends at First Security (left) and yummy breakfast pastries to our brand new tutors at Colliers International (right). Get ready, you may be next!
Read Across America Day
On March 2, schools and organizations across the nation joined together to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss's birthday. From parties to parades, central Arkansas didn't lack spirit. We decided to stop by and join in the fun, too. Some dedicated tutors even made time to join their students in the celebration. Below are a few pictures from Read Across America Day right here in Arkansas.
Read For Success Training
To prep for Read For Success, we invited our teachers and school representatives to come out for a workshop with Laura Walters, Read For Success Senior Trainer. The Read For Success program utilizes engaging read-alouds with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) activities.
