Our organization has gained the attention of the media because of the efforts of our wonderful tutors.
The difference the tutors are making to improve reading levels of students in Pulaski County is
astounding. The following news pieces are the result of hard work by all of those involved in the
AR Kids Read effort.
AR Kids Read Board Chair, Donald Wood, was highlighted in Little Rock Soiree’s High Profile section.
He was recognized for his service to the community, his philanthropic heart and chose to feature
AR Kids Read and literacy as his key volunteer interest. We are thankful for his leadership and support.

AR Kids Read staff members had the privilege of being interviewed by Tom Wood, Public Service
Director and on-air personality for 94.9 TOM-FM. AR Kids Read will be featured on Tom’s Corner the
morning of December 20th on all of iHeartMedia’s stations (94.9 TOM-FM, KSSN 95.7, 100.3 The Edge,
and 105.1 The Wolf). The interview will be aired around 7am on all four of these stations. Click here

The AR Kids Read tutoring program was highlighted in the Family section of the Arkansas Democrat
Gazette. The article entitled “A Learning Experience” by Helaine Williams noted the benefit of tutoring
for both the student and the tutor and brought attention to the AR Kids Read program as a whole.
Mary Dee Taylor noted, “Volunteering is the best job you’ll never get paid for, except in the rewards
of watching these children.”
AR Kids Read is a finalist for Arkansas Business Publishing Group’s Non-Profit of the Year. The winning
organization will be announced at a reception/dinner on February 25th, stay tuned.
We are amazed by the media attention our program has received and are thankful to have so many
dedicated tutors that are changing lives of students in Pulaski County schools.
